Waste Water Technology
Penstocks for use in water and wastewater technology, compliant with DIN standards or custom-made: gate valves, butterfly valves, flap valves, throttling devices, as well as casted valves. Actuators for valves, basin equipment for sewage treatment plants. Stop logs, dam boards, and flood protection elements complete our range of fittings.
Distinctive Features of Penstocks in Wastewater Technology

In wastewater technology, shut-off valves are classified according to various characteristics. Penstocks often have manual, automatic oder electric drives. The distinctive features of our penstocks are, for example: the type of application, the pressure direction and the design criteria.
Type of application
- Shut-off, i. e. penstock, handstop, flap valve, dam board, stop log
- Flow control, throttle penstock, weir gate, weir penstock, channel gate
- Distribute, i. e. diverter gate
Pressure direction
- Front side pressure: Sealing effect is supported by water pressure or closing plate is pressed against the sealing surface by water pressure
- Rear side pressure: Sealing effect is reduced by water pressure or closing plate is pressed away from the sealing surface by water pressure
Design Criteria
- Penstock: 4-face seal
- Channel penstock: 3-face seal
- Weir penstock: opening by means of downward operation; flow control and shut-off
- Handstop with 3 facings: only for small conduits; manual operation
- Dam board, stop log: 3 or 4 facings shut-off device. Closure by means of dead weight and pressure equalization, serves only as auxiliary shut-off device
- Waste weir: flap gate for level-control and discharge
- Flap valve: prevents back flow of water
Diverter gate: distribution device for diverting one main flow into two partial flows; carried out as vertical slewing gate - Telescopic slide gate: by means of inlet- / outlet pipe; for level-control and drainage
