Drives


We deliver drives for wastewater valves and penstocks as underfloor drives, overfloor drives, control drives, electrical drives, as well as pneumatic and hydraulic drives.

We supply both in-ground and above-ground drives, which we can customise to your requirements. All drives are available in manual versions, with gearboxes for speed reduction or power transmission, as well as in automated versions – electric, hydraulic or pneumatic.

A range of actuator options helps you to optimally implement every conceivable installation scenario for your caseless valves and to meet the various requirements of the respective gate valve system.

With overfloor actuators, protection against vandalism can be a key consideration. You should therefore opt for secure and robust covers and enclosures made from 1.4301 or 1.4404 stainless steel for the hand wheel, gearbox and electric actuator.

Automated actuators for wastewater valves are available as standard with protection class IP68 in accordance with EN 60 529. The corrosion protection classes are based on the corrosivity categories in accordance with EN ISO 12944-2 and DIN 55633:

  • Maximum water depth: 8 m water column (WC)
  • Maximum duration of flooding: 96 hours
  • Up to 10 actuations during flooding

Drives also are available in an explosion-proof design.

Design features:

Analogue mechanical position indicator for setting the valve opening for mounting directly under the
actuator element. A window with magnifying effect of the counter digits ensures good readability.

Possible applications:

  • Wall-mounted throttle penstock: to set the required opening stroke to ensure the flow rate
  • Weir penstock / weir gate: to set the required overflow quantity
  • For invisible fittings e.g. high sewer depths, drives in street caps etc.

Transportable E-Actuator GW-MSS

Design features:

Transportable, electrical operating key for 230 V sockets with protective plug. Safe to operate due to two mutually dependent switches located in the respective handles.  Torque setting adjustable from 30-130 Nm. The device automatically disconnects the power supply at preset torque level. Motor housing made of aluminium. Fan engine with clockwise / anti clockwise rotation including counter and reset button (75 rpm).

Service life and recommendations

Normally, with electric actuators open / closing times of about 0.1 up to 0.5 m/min can be realized. Different values have to be agreed upon. Electric actuators are always equipped with an anti-condensing heater. After installation, this must be connected electrically immediately, as otherwise condensation and corrosion may occur in the electric drive. 

– for electric actuators, lifetime class 2: average number of operations 2 cycles / h

– for electric modulating actuators, lifetime class 2: average number of operations 200 cycles / h, and by separate agreement
